Living in the Limelight

Well I guess I got a little off track with discussing my Home Projects Wish list… I do that (getting off track)!!  Anyways I was going to tell you things I was hoping to do for my dining/living room.  But I just went ahead and did some of them, so here they are…
I wanted to paint this wall in my dining room, white…
so I did…
wrong picture angle, whoops!  I just need hubby to change the outlets to white ones.
Another thing I wanted done was paint all the trim white and paint the living room and dining room.  Here’s the living room before…
And now with Benjamin Moore “Dior Gray” and white trim…
Now I just need to do something with that ugly couch!! And I wouldn’t mind this rug from Ikea
or this one
not sure if the first one is too much color, and if the second one is not enough color??
I painted the dining room the same gray, I love it with the white furniture!!
I really need to get a big china cabinet for this space instead of what I have here.  I have been scouring kijiji for one but I don’t want to pay $500+ for something that I’m just going to be painting.  If I ever do find that money tree, I would like three of these units from Ikea
And now I’m really kicking myself for not buying my tv unit from ikea in white…
oh well…
One of the major things that need to be done in the living/dining room is the floor.  I’m assuming the previous owner ripped carpet out of the living room and put hardwood down.  The only problem is the floor doesn’t match…
…this is the living room and dining room floor and…

…this is the living room and hallway floor.  I would like to get new floors, but I wonder if we could just refinish these ones to be the same color??
The other major thing that we need to do is something about this ugly fireplace.
I have always wanted one with a nice white mantel like this one

Maybe someday, we don’t use our gas fireplace much because we mostly heat with wood.  But they are nice to look at!!
I’ve been talking about wanting to cut the built in shelf out in my kitchen, so it would open up to the living room, so this week I cleaned the shelf off and put everything away. To show my husband (who thinks I’m crazy, I’m not gonna say he’s wrong in thinking that) that I don’t need the shelf anymore.
When I get ideas I think about what they will look like, not about what they cost or what they could do to the structure of our house.  Husband tells me that we are going to have to get someone in the look at this wall to make sure it is not a supporting wall, blah blah blah, there goes my demolition plans for while hubby is away this weekend! 🙁
Wow I feel like this is a long post, I guess that’s what happens when you don’t blog in two weeks!  One more quick thing, with all of the painting going on last weekend we (I)also decided to paint the hallway and stripey wall to get rid of the ugly color we had.  I wanted to do a fun lime green, so I chose “Limelight” by Benjamin Moore.
FUN isn’t it?  Well it was fun until we realized that having a lime green hallway was less FUN and more INSANE!!!
At night time with the hall light on it looked flourescent green. So I decided to paint it with the same gray as the living room and paint all of the doors with the lime green.
Much better!! And it is still fun with the lime doors, no?.  I still have to paint the closet door at the end of the hall, but I’m holding out for a new door.  I need one that will stand up better to two little boys running at it full tilt!!
Anyways this is the end of my long post. I need to start posting more often!!
Bye for now!
